The recipient of a master’s degree in English with an emphasis on literature analysis from Notre Dame de Namur University, Adam Wies has improved the writing and reading skills of numerous students throughout his years as a high school English teacher. Adam Wies has also volunteered as an editor and proofreader at De Anza College.
Known for its academics and extracurricular activities, as well as its high-ranking athletics programs, De Anza College attracts students from over 50 countries. The community college maintains a vibrant student government and more than 60 student clubs. Additionally, De Anza provides such resources as its Writing and Reading Center (WRC).
Open to all students enrolled at De Anza, the WRC supports the college’s vision to enhance diversity and encourage learning through reading and writing. Its services include half-hour drop-in tutoring sessions, computers and other resources, and workshops for faculty and students. Students can also apply for hour-long individual tutoring on a weekly basis.
The WRC can assist students with a particular class or with general skills like reading comprehension and proofreading. In addition, it provides ESL guidance.
